  2. BORDERS & FRAMES IV USER'S GUIDE
  3. --------------------------------
  4. All documentation assumes you have a basic understanding of how to 
  5. use your computer and the programs you have purchased for it.
  6.  
  7. BASIC REQUIREMENTS
  8. -------------------
  9. Borders & Frames IV images require application(s) that are compatible 
  10. with EPS and TIF file formats. All EPS images are saved using Adobe 
  11. Illustrator. All TIF images are saved with Adobe Photoshop. Any other 
  12. hardware or software requirements will be based primarily on the applications 
  13. you use and the type of final output you plan to produce.

  15. The illustrations in this collection are each provided in 2 file 
  16. formats. They are grouped in the Images folders and differentiated by file name 
  17. as follows:

  19. EPS and TIF FILES:
  20. Illustrator 3.0, naming convention 001BRB04.EPS (Black-and-White)
  21. Illustrator 3.0, naming convention 001BRC04.EPS (Color)
  22. Photoshop 2.5, 300 dpi, naming convention 001BRB04.TIF (Black-and-White)
  23. Photoshop 2.5, 300 or 170 dpi, naming convention 001BRB04.TIF (Grayscale)
  24. Photoshop 2.5, 170 dpi, naming convention 001BRC04.TIF (CMYK)

  28. EXTENSIS PORTFOLIO BROWSER (Windows 95/NT)
  29. ------------------------------------------
  30. The Extensis Portfolio Browser included on this CD allows you to view thumbnails 
  31. and file names for the images included on this CD. The browser can also be used 
  32. to search for images on the CD by entering keywords and descriptions and allows 
  33. you to view a larger preview of an image or copy an original image to your hard 
  34. drive. No installation is required to use the Extensis Portfolio Browser. Simply 
  35. open the Artworks catalog folder and open the "Extensis Portfolio Browser" folder 
  36. and double-click on "Portfolio Browser.exe". Once the browser opens, a dialog box 
  37. will appear. Click once on the "Up One Level" Button (this button looks like a 
  38. folder with an up arrow inside of it) and choose the catalog you want to open.

  40. In the Extensis Portfolio Browser folder is a file called "Portfolio 3.0 Browser 
  41. QSG.pdf" this file contains instructions on how to use the Portfolio Browser. 
  42. The Adobe« Acrobat Reader must be installed on your computer first in order to 
  43. view any Acrobat (PDF) files. See the Adobe Acrobat Reader Installation 
  44. Instructions below.

  46. Artworks Browser catalog: This catalog contains all the images in this Artworks 
  47. package.

  49. YOU DO NOT NEED EXTENSIS PORTFOLIO BROWSER OR ANY OF THE ITEMS IN THE 
  50. CATALOG FOLDER TO USE THE ARTWORK ON THE CD.

  53. ADOBE« ACROBAT READER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  56. The Adobe« Acrobat Reader must be installed on your computer first in order to 
  57. view any Acrobat (PDF) files.
  58.  
  59. The installation program for "Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.01" can be found in the 
  60. Adobe Acrobat folder located in the "Extensis Portfolio Browser" folder. Windows 
  61. 3.1 users should use the 16-bit installer (ar16e301.exe) and Windows 95 users 
  62. should use the 32-bit installation program(ar32e301.exe). Double-click the file 
  63. to run the installer.

  69. USING THE ARTWORK ON THIS CD
  70. -----------------------------
  71. PAGE LAYOUT PROGRAMS:
  72. Open your page layout program. Create a new document and PLACE the 
  73. EPS files as you would any other images. The following page layout programs are 
  74. compatible with EPS file formats:
  75.     *Adobe PageMaker
  76.     *QuarkXPress
  77.  
  78. DRAW PROGRAMS:
  79. To edit the EPS files, OPEN or IMPORT them with your draw program.
  80. EPS files: 
  81.     *Adobe Illustrator
  82.     *Macromedia Freehand        
  83.     *Corel DRAW! (Import)

  85. PAINT PROGRAMS:
  86. The TIF files can be manipulated like any other bitmap 
  87. images in the following programs:
  88.     *Adobe Photoshop
  89.     *Corel Photo-Paint
  90.  
  91. If your application was not listed above, please refer to your manual for 
  92. compatibility.
